Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 1: 1-28

Focus

“But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.” (1 Samuel 1: 5)

God shut the womb of Hannah and she had no child, until she eventually had Samuel. Hannah may have tried severally to have a child of her own, but it didn’t work because God Himself wouldn’t let her conceive. God only unlocked her womb when he was ready to release Samuel. God only unlocked her womb when the great destiny He wanted to birth was ready to be revealed. Because of what was coming, there was a shutting out.

Friend, if your destiny will be great, and if you will feature in God’s agenda, there are doors that God Himself might shut in order to preserve your ‘Samuel’. Some people might just refuse to become your friends because God does not want them to come in and pollute what He is about to make happen for you; God may not allow some opportunities to come your way because He does not want you to lose sight of divine agenda.

Samuel was that uncommon divine agenda that was not to be polluted. If you are a major feature in God’s agenda, always remember that not everything is for you. Not every relationship is for you; not every activity is for you; not every group is for you; not every idea is for you; not every ‘open door’ is for you; not every opportunity is for you; not every success or result that comes to the person next door is destined for you.

Don’t struggle to receive what God will not have you receive; don’t labour to become who God will not have you become; don’t allow the desire to be like someone around you overshadow your understanding of the path that God has designed for you; don’t let the desire for regular results and achievements rob you of the focus you should have on God’s agenda for you.

Ask God to open your eyes to see the doors He has shut that should remain shut until He says otherwise. Ask God to open your eyes to see what should not be allowed into your destiny.

Declaration

I will not open the doors that God has shut in my life, in Jesus’ name!
