Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 1: 1-28

Focus

“And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.” (1 Samuel 1: 2)

Elkanah was introduced as a man with two wives: Hannah and Peninnah. Hannah had no children in the same environment where Peninnah had sons and daughters. Hannah had no results from her marriage; she was in a home where someone had results but she had none. She was without evidence. She was representative of that part of Elkanah’s life that was devoid of results; she was that part of Elkanah’s life that was unfruitful.

Elkanah did not drive Hannah away simply because she was barren. He kept faith with her until she had her own children. Elkanah was patient with the unfruitful part of his life until it became fruitful. He did not give up on the part that was without results. He did not lose interest simply because the results he desired were yet to manifest. He did not lose interest in the area that left him empty handed.

Friend, if there be a part of your life that is fruitless, work on it until it becomes fruitful. Put some efforts into that vision that is yet to become a reality; work hard on that dream that is currently being opposed by the policies and protocols of men; add some efforts to that career, business, ministry, vocation, vision, family, marriage, relationship, etc that is not yet as fruitful as you desire. Don’t give up on your fruitless areas.

Hannah may have been barren for a while, but in a matter of time, she had Samuel and even went on to have more children. She moved from fruitlessness to fruitfulness. Hear me as I hear the Lord: the areas that are fruitless today shall be fruitful tomorrow. The areas that make no sense today will make sense tomorrow. Those areas that bring you tears today will bring you joy tomorrow. No fruitless area is permitted to remain so.

What you call a fruitless area today just requires some efforts, prayers, insight, consistency, dedication, etc to become fruitful. Work on what isn’t working, and in a matter of time, it will fetch you results.

Declaration

I will work on my fruitless areas until they become exceedingly fruitful, in Jesus’ name!
