Don’t Be Ordinary

11th July 2022

Scripture Reading: Judges 16: 1-25

Focus

“And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.” (Judges 16: 7)

In our Focal Scripture, Samson disclosed to Delilah that if the Philistines bound him, he would be weak and be as another man. Samson was speaking of his consecration, and whereas he didn’t disclose the root of his consecration, he implied that he could become weak and be like another man if he lost it. So losing his consecration was going to make him become like another man. Losing his consecration was going to weaken him.

Friend, when you break your consecration, you are simply weakening yourself by yourself. When you break the boundaries of God’s expectation for your life, you are simply preparing to become like any other man. When you break the hedge that God has placed around you, you are simply asking to stop being distinct and become ordinary like any other person. When you allow the enemy inroads into your life, you are setting yourself up for a mega downfall that will reduce you completely.

The greatness of Samson was tied to his consecration, and any moment he began to play with it, he was going to become as ordinary as any other person. He was going to move from being spectacular to being ordinary if he made the mistake of playing with the boundaries that God set for his life. If there are boundaries that God has set for you, stay within them, otherwise, you just might become ordinary.

God did not call you to be ordinary; He called you to be spectacular. God called you to be distinct, with the oil of distinction. God called you to stand out from the crowd. Even if you are surrounded by people who are content with being ordinary, dare to seek an extraordinary life. Dare to desire more than others want to be. Dare to desire a great life. Dare to desire a life that will make impact in your generation and beyond.

Anything that tampers with your consecration is also tampering with the longevity of your greatness. Don’t be counted amongst those whose greatness was cut short on account of breaking the hedge.

Declaration

I will not break my consecration; I will not become ordinary, in Jesus’ name!
