Scripture Reading: Psalm 92: 1-12

Focus

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” (Psalm 92: 12)

According to agriculturists, the natural oils in the cedar tree do not develop in the younger trees. The oils only show up when the trees have grown appreciably. This is the same oil that makes the cedar tree to smell good. This is the same oil that makes the cedar tree to kill insects and fungi. This is the same oil that enables the cedar tree to be used in making perfumes. This is the same oil that makes the cedar tree resistant to disease.

So there are properties of the cedar tree that will not manifest until it has grown. There are advantages that will not see the light of day until there is growth in the cedar tree. There are special properties that are ordinarily inherent in the cedar tree, but will not manifest until there is growth. Simply put, some advantages that are unavailable when there is no growth can become available and functional when there is growth.

Friend, this is that season when you must intentionally grow above your current level. Grow your capacity; grow your competence; grow in your walk with God; grow in your intimacy with God; grow in your prayer life and in the study of God’s word; grow in the dimensions of the Spirit; grow until you outgrow the negativities that surround you; grow until the beauty of Jesus is seen in you; keep growing and don’t stop.

There are things you won’t enjoy until you mature. There are heights you may not attain until you achieve more maturity. Some divine promises and prophecies, and some provisions of scriptures which may remain elusive to you until you grow beyond your present level in your knowledge of God. There are higher grounds that will remain missing in your destiny until you grow up in your thinking and attitude to life.

Don’t live like a child forever; grow up. Don’t be an heir without having access to your inheritance. Grow in maturity; grow into the greatness that God designed for you.

Declaration

I grow in God; and I grow in every facet of my life, in Jesus’ name!
