It Shall Come To Pass

14th October 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 9: 1-13

Focus

“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

In 1 Kings 19 vs. 16, God had commanded Elijah to anoint Jehu as king of Israel, as well as to anoint Elisha to be a prophet in his (Elijah’s) room. Elijah only anointed Elisha to be a prophet and was eventually taken up to heaven by a whirlwind; Elijah failed to anoint Jehu as king. It seemed that the prophecy on the life of Jehu was put on hold. It seemed that the man whose responsibility it was to anoint Jehu was gone for good.

Notice that in our Focal Scripture, Elisha called one of the sons of the prophets and mandated him to go and anoint Jehu as king of Israel. The prophecy that seemed abandoned by Elijah was exhumed and reactivated by Elisha. The same word that seemed forgotten was suddenly remembered and implemented. The word of the Lord for the life of Jehu may have tarried, but it eventually came to pass.

Friend, hear God’s word of grace to you: every prophecy concerning your life shall come to pass. Whatsoever the Lord has destined for your life shall come to pass. The help that God has destined for you shall come to pass. The distinction and relevance that God has packaged for your life shall come to pass. The higher realms that God has destined to have you step into, shall come to pass. Your prophecy will come to pass.

Elijah seemed to forget the word of the Lord for Jehu, but the word of the Lord did not forget Jehu. The word of the Lord remembered Jehu. Hear me as I hear the Lord: the word of the Lord will not forget you. The men who should push you higher may abandon you, but God will not abandon whatever He has said concerning you. Even if the Elijah’s of this world walk away and leave you stranded, God will raise an Elisha to fulfill His word.

Be confident in this, that He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. If God has said, then wait for it; it shall come to pass in a matter of time.

Memory Verse

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (Habakkuk 2: 3)
