Check Your Capacity

Check Your Capacity

13th December 2019

Scripture Reading: Luke 14: 28-30

Focus

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” (Luke 14: 28)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of a man in Jesus’ parable who intended to build a tower, but needed to sit down first and count the cost, to know if he had enough resources to complete the project. A tower is a high rise construction; so what this man wanted to build was big, but he first considered if his resources could match his intention. This man put his big dreams side by side with his resources. There was no starting without capacity considerations. He mixed intention with capacity.

Friend, as 2019 makes way for 2020, glean some wisdom: mix your intentions with capacity. Build capacity for the big dreams you wish to accomplish; grow your knowledge to match with the big dreams you have set forth for the New Year that will soon begin; acquire the necessary skills that will enable and empower you to accomplish all that you desire to accomplish; gain the capacity that will make your intentions a reality.

It’s high time you raised your prayer life to a level that will enable you to conquer the battles and challenges that are waiting for you; grow your relationships to a point where they can be assets, not liabilities; grow your competence to a level where it can position you for the greatness and impact level you seek to attain in your career; build up yourself to be strong, knowledgeable, wise, informed, skillful, etc to do what you have to do.

If you fail to build your capacity, you just might end up as one who is forever planning and wishing but never accomplishing. If you meet your plans without mixing the same with capacity and abilities, you just might end up as one who set out to mock himself on the big stage of life. If you don’t get ready for the things you want to accomplish, they will end up a mirage.

Don’t be counted among men who only dream but do nothing about their dreams. Work your dreams; prepare for your dreams; build capacity for your dreams; and no matter how lofty and lovely your intentions are, mix it with capacity.

Declaration

As 2019 makes way for 2020, I mix intention with capacity, in Jesus’ name!
