Break Away

Cut It Down

14th Februrary 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6: 1-7

Focus

“Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.” (2 Kings 6: 2)

The sons of the prophet who dwelt with Elisha were to go to Jordan to cut down wood. Each one was to take a beam. Each one was to cut down wood that would be a beam in their hands as they built their new place of abode. The wood they were to cut down was to be the raw materials for their new house. They needed to stop the trees from growing in order for a new house to arise. Stopping the growth of trees was to be their beam.

Friend, for that new ‘house’ you need to build, there are things that need to stop growing so that you can have your ‘beam’. There are habits in you that need to die; there are relationships that you need to cut down; there are commitments that need to be cut down for you to make the progress you desire; there are excesses you need to put a stop to if you must become all that you have potentials to become.

If you are careful enough to observe your life and environment, you would realize that there are things which are growing and which need to go down for you to advance your purpose. There are demonic activities and centers of spiritual wickedness that need to be cut down; there are structures and policies that need to go down; there are attitudes/behaviours, practices, ideas, mindsets, etc that need to go down for you to have a beam.

If those sons of the prophets went to Jordan and preferred to retain the trees instead of cutting them down in order to have beams, they would have gone down in history as men who had the potentials to build a new house but never had the courage to cut down trees. If you prefer to retain what needs to be cut down, you just might go down in history as having great potentials but never realizing same because you lacked courage.

Seek out the ‘trees’ that need to go down, and cut them down immediately. Don’t retain what needs to go down.

Declaration

I won’t retain what needs to go down, in Jesus’ name!
