Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 17: 1-53

Focus

“Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.” (1 Samuel 17: 36)

In our Focal Scripture, David described Goliath as an uncircumcised Philistine. David made a comparison between himself and Goliath, and he referred to Goliath as being uncircumcised. Circumcision was a token of Abraham’s covenant with God; it was that process that took a ‘foreskin’ out of Abraham in order to usher him into the blessings that God ordained for him. It was that process that took something out of the life of Abraham in order to make him fit for his blessing.

Friend, there are great things that God wants to do in your life, but there are things you must take away. There are ‘foreskins’ that you must cut off if you desire to be all that God has ordained that you become. There are relationships you must put away on your journey to becoming who God wants you to become. There are habits, behaviours, commitments, lifestyles, etc you need to discard if you want to walk into your next level. There are things in you that you might need to cut off speedily.

It’s time for you to take away pride; it’s time to take away the bitterness, unforgiveness, rancor, hate, envy, adultery, fornication, malice, wickedness, etc. It’s high time you discarded the little foxes that spoil your vine. It’s high time you discarded the very things in you that hinder the hand of God from being manifest in your life. It’s time that you put away whatever puts God away from you. It’s time to let the foreskin to be cut off.

What God was about to do for Abraham, at the time when He ordered for circumcision, had never been done for anyone on earth. So the demand for circumcision was God’s way of causing greatness to erupt in the life of Abraham. When God begins to make a demand for what must end in your life, He wants to use you to set an example of His greatness in your generation.

Today, I decree that everything in your life that displeases God, dies right now. Every ‘foreskin’ that the Lord would have you remove, let it be removed now.

Declaration

Whatsoever the Lord would have me cut off, I cut it off now, in Jesus’ name!

Memory Verse

“Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.” (Jeremiah 4: 4)
