Divine Advantages

Scripture Reading: Esther 6: 1-14

Focus

“On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.” (Esther 6: 1)

On that night when the king could not sleep, Ahasuerus ordered that the book of records of chronicles be opened and read to him. In bible times, a book of chronicles was kept for kings; records of good deeds and bad deeds were kept; records of the origin of different people were kept. That book had the record of the good work done by Mordecai towards the king; it would have also recorded that Mordecai was a Jew.

Notice that when the book was read to the King, the good works of Mordecai came to the King’s attention. There was no mention of the fact that Mordecai was a Jew. It was not in Mordecai’s favour to be identified as a Jew, and no mention was made of that. What he did right was remembered; his advantage was located; what he did right was focused on; what he did right received attention in the right places; his advantage worked for him.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: your areas of advantage will work for you; whatever you have done right will receive attention from the right places; when decisions are to be taken concerning you, only your advantage will be noticed by those who matter; only your advantage will be noticed by those who are to open doors for you to make progress; only your advantage will be divinely advertised. Your advantage will attract attention.

Mordecai’s disadvantage (as a Jew) did not work against him. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your disadvantage will not work against you. The things you did not do right will not count when it is time for you to be honoured; the mistakes of yesterday will not come into play when it is time for you to be lifted; the negative sides of your background will not stop you in the day of your elevation. No negativity will stop your shining.

Ask the Lord to throw light on your advantages and positive areas. Ask God to position men who will see your positives and push you higher.
