Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16: 1-13

Focus

“6. And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed is before him. 7. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16: 6-7)

When Samuel saw Eliab, he proclaimed that Eliab was the Lord’s anointed. Samuel saw the physical attributes of Eliab, and he began to prophesy that Eliab was the man that God had chosen. Samuel was in error, and his error had the potential to deny David of what God had packaged and ordained for him. Samuel was on the verge of diverting what was meant for David.

As Samuel ruminated on the wrong choice he was about to make, God interrupted him and told him not to anoint Eliab. God interrupted the diversion of what was meant for David. God saw that what was meant for David was about to be given to another, and He stopped Samuel right on time; God was on hand to ensure that David’s portion was protected even in David’s absence.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: God will interrupt men in order to favour you. Every Eliab that wants to take your portion, today, I decree divine interruption; every word that is favouring the Eliabs of this world, may such words be interrupted; every policy that has arisen to allot your portion to another, I truncate it by the word of the Lord; I speak against every diversion of your divine inheritance.

Eliab had the right looks, he had the right qualifications, but he had the wrong heart and he was not the chosen one. Eliab could have been considered as a good choice, apparently he looked good enough to hoodwink Samuel, but God was on hand to interrupt his rising. It doesn’t matter if your own ‘Eliab’ is more qualified than you or better positioned than you; God will stop them from taking your place.

Today, get in the place of prayer and command every word that is favouring the ‘Eliabs’ of this world to be interrupted. Ask God to truncate every plan or policy that will cause men to rise and take your place.

Declaration

No ‘Eliab’ will take my place; there shall be no diversion of my portion, in Jesus’ name!
