Don’t Go Down

Don’t Go Down

Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 37: 1-14

Focus

“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,” (Ezekiel 37: 1)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of the famous valley of dry bones. In subsequent verses of our Scripture Reading, we discover that these bones were the bones of men who were slain in the valley. The enemies that wanted to kill them, brought them to the valley, and executed them. They may have once been on higher grounds, but at some point, they moved from high grounds to low ground, and death came upon them. They died on low grounds.

Friend, whenever the devil begins to take you down, death is imminent. Whenever you start going down, you are probably going down a slippery slope at an alarming speed. When the devil brings you below where you ought to be, be sure that there is a sinister plan he is trying to execute. Whenever you begin to leave the heights you should operate on, and move down to lower heights, you are simply endangering your destiny.

Has your prayer life begun to go down? Be careful; death and destruction might just be the next package from the enemy. Has your commitment, consecration, and dedication to God and your God-given assignment begun to wane? Be warned, because there is death in the valley. Have you begun to operate on a level of competence, efficiency, consistency, dedication, etc that is below your previous standards? Please know that you are about to lose your place in destiny.

There is death on low grounds. There is a loss of greatness when you go down when you should be going up. There is a loss of relevance when your relationship with God takes a downward spiral. There is a loss of focus, influence, relevance, position, etc when you leave the heights that God would have you stay in, preferring the valley of sin, immorality, prayerlessness, etc. When you go down to the valley, enemies are there to slay you.

If Jesus has redeemed you, then He redeemed you to be a city set on a hill. Stay on the hill; stay on the heights that God has placed you on; stop going down. Don’t go down to the valley.
