Don’t Settle

12th February 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6: 1-7

Focus

“Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.” (2 Kings 6: 2)

The sons of the prophets dwelt with Elisha, but in a matter of time, they realized that where they lived with Elisha had become too small for them to stay in, and they pushed for a move to a bigger place. They may have been comfortable at some point, but as they grew, they realized that they had to move. They determined a new location for them to dwell in. They refused to settle for what was available; they pushed for more.

Friend, don’t settle for less; push for more. Ask for more. Ask God for bigger places; ask for higher levels; push for more impact and relevance; push for bigger places; push for greater opportunities; don’t settle where you are; begin to see visions that are bigger than where you are at the moment; begin to aspire for heights that may currently seem far from where you are; refuse to settle for less than your destiny mandate.

Wisdom teaches that life is a journey; wherever you are is not your final destination if there is still life in you. Whatever you have achieved is not the best you can ever achieve; whatever levels you have attained is not the best you can ever attain; whatever progress you have made is not the best you can ever make; whatever results you have achieved is not all that you can ever achieve; your current ‘dwelling place’ is not all there is for you.

If those sons of the prophets remained in that dwelling place with Elisha, just maybe, in a matter of time when they would have all had wives and children, the environment that was once comfortable would suddenly become toxic for their survival. Where you are now may be comfortable, but it just might become toxic sooner than later if you do not intentionally push for more. Your comfort zone today will later become uncomfortable.

Push for more while the opportunity lasts. Don’t wait for others to take all there is while you remain in your small places.
