Get Prepared

22nd October 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 9: 1-13

Focus

“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

In our Focal Scripture, Elisha sent one of the sons of the prophets to go up to Ramoth Gilead where he would anoint Jehu as king of Israel. That son of the prophets was to gird up his loins before moving up. In bible times, to gird up one’s loins was to tuck in one’s long, flowing garments into a girdle worn around the waist. It was a preparation for fast movement. So that son of the prophet was to prepare before going up.

Friend, if you will go up to your Ramoth Gilead, if you will go up to the heights that God Himself has ordained for you, then start preparing. Prepare for the next level you so badly desire. Prepare for the heights you want to attain. You may have desired very lofty heights, and that in itself is okay, but it’s high time you started working towards the heights you want to attain. Start preparing yourself for the future that is yet to come.

That son of the prophets would not move to Ramoth Gilead until he had tucked in his garments. Guess what? Your ‘Ramoth Gilead’ may remain inaccessible until you gird up your loins. Some opportunities may remain inaccessible until you prepare yourself for them. Some realms of greatness may forever elude you until you make efforts to break away from your comfort zone and prepare yourself for the high places you admire.

Some heights will literally mock you if you get there but lack the capacity to stay there. Even God Himself might be scared to take you to certain heights you have refused to prepare for so that you don’t embarrass Him. You may even think that God has been unwilling to take you higher, but just maybe He is unwilling to be ridiculed through you. Some heights will lead to your collapse if you do not intentionally grow up to fit into them.

For every height you have ever dreamt of, start preparing. Prepare for your tomorrow. Don’t wait for tomorrow to meet you unprepared.
