Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 9: 1-13

Focus

“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

In our Focal Scripture, Elisha commanded one of the sons of the prophets to gird up his loins, and go to Ramothgilead. Elisha commanded one of the sons of the prophets to approach the assignment of anointing Jehu by first girding his loins. To gird up one’s loins in bible times meant to tuck in one’s flowing garments. The idea was to make room for fast paced movements. So simply put, that son of the prophet was ordered to move speedily.

Friend, in this season, dare to run. Move with speed. Move like one in a hurry to accomplish your divine assignment. Move like one whose movement must not be hindered. Move like one whose assignment is an emergency. Move like one who is under divine pressure to accomplish the tasks that heaven has released. Move like one who does not have time to waste. Move like one whose assignment cannot be delayed.

For that prophet in training, the moment he tucked in his flowing garments, it was no longer movement as usual. He stepped out of the mode of leisure and entered the mode of brisk movement. You may have been moving like one on a leisure trip, but now is the time to move like one on a divine mission. Now is the time to move like one who must never be delayed. Now is the time to move like who has no time to waste.

The era of lazy movements should be over for you. The era of moving like one who has a lot of time to waste, is over. The era of moving like one who has no immediate target to hit, is over. No man approaches the anointing of a king like a mere stroll. If heaven has chosen you to make uncommon achievements, then do yourself a favour by moving briskly to your assignment. Run towards your goal. Chase your assignment with speed.

If you keep delaying your movement, you just might arrive at Ramothgilead and there would be no ‘Jehu’ to anoint. Break out of every slow movement and brace up for fast paced movements.

Declaration

No more slow movements; I run, in Jesus’ name!
