Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 9: 1-13

Focus

“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

In our Focal Scripture, Elisha told one of the sons of the prophets to gird up his loins and take a box of oil to Ramoth Gilead, to anoint Jehu. In Bible times, to gird up one’s loins was to tuck in one’s garments into a girdle worn around the waist region. The idea was to prevent the flowing garment from slowing down the person who was moving. It implied that movement needed to happen with speed. It implied that haste was needed urgently.

Friend, in this season, God is asking to you hasten your movement. Stop moving slowly. Stop acting or moving like someone who has all the time in the world. Stop delaying the fulfillment of whatsoever God has put in your spirit man. Stop acting like someone who can always get back and do whatever he wants. Stop acting like someone who time is waiting for. Stop carrying on like one whose movement is not time bound.

That son of the prophets was to go and anoint Jehu based on the orders of Elisha. He was to carry out an assignment that was given to Elijah even before the mantle fell to Elisha, he was to carry out an assignment that had been badly delayed, and there was no time to waste. If you look closely, you would realize that some of the things you are delaying ought to have been accomplished long before now, and your current delay is simply not a show of wisdom.

What are the weights around you that are slowing you down? Take them off. Take off the relationships that are wasting your time. Take off the habits and attitudes that are making a mess of the mandate that God put on your life. Take off the activities that have stalled your destiny. Take off the pleasures that are making you redundant in your duty post. Take off the mindset that makes you act like one who has time to waste.

There is no time to waste time. There is no honour in slowing yourself down. Gird up your loins and move faster than you ever have.

Declaration

I gird up my loins, I move faster; no more time wasting, in Jesus’ name!
