Add To Your Rock

Scripture Reading: Matthew 7: 24-27

Focus

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” (Matthew 7: 24)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that man who built his house upon a rock. A rock is already a strong structure, and that man went ahead to build upon it. That man built upon a thing that was already strong; he added something to what was already strong; he put more value upon something that was already strong; he made more investment into that which was already strong; he added more to that which was already strong.

Friend, you may already have a rock, but God says, build on it. Add more value to that thing you have that is already strong; no matter how strong your values are, add more value to them; no matter how strong you are in the place of prayer, just pray more; no matter how strong and effective your career, business, ministry, academics, family, marriage, etc may have become, you won’t be wrong if you build more on it.

Building involves designing, planning, creativity, dedication, spending, cutting off, smoothening, finishing, etc. What is in your hands may already be strong, but it’s time to add more design to it; it’s time to take your creativity a notch higher; it’s time to cut off what needs to be cut off; it’s time to smoothen the rough edges of your rock; it’s time to make more efforts that will make your work more beautiful and pleasant to behold.

The mere fact that things are strong around you is not an excuse to fold your arms and do nothing more; the mere fact that the works of your hands are profitable does not mean that there is nothing more for you to invest or achieve; the mere fact that God has helped you already by making you prosperous and profitable does not mean that there is no extra effort, prayer, investment, commitment, etc that you can put in.

Don’t be counted among men who got a rock and built nothing on it; build on your rock; even in your strong places, add more value.

Declaration

I add value to my rocks; I increase in my strong places, in Jesus’ name!
