Scripture Reading: Ruth 1: 1-17

Focus

“Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.” (Ruth 1: 1)

Our Focal Scripture is the first verse of the book of Ruth. Ruth was a Moabitess. She was among the people who were forbidden from coming into the temple (see Deuteronomy 23 vs. 3). She had no portion in God; she originally had no pedigree in Israel; but by divine arrangement, a book of the bible was written in her name. She was favoured in a manner that others were not favoured; what was not done for others was done for her.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you may not have all the pedigree that others have, you may not be counted among those that matter, but what was not done for others shall be done for you. What was not given to others shall be given to you; what was not approved for others shall be approved for you; doors that were not opened to others shall be opened to you; opportunities that didn’t come to others shall come to you.

Ruth was a mere visitor in Israel, but she got a favour that several Israelites did not get. She got what people ahead of her did not get. Hear me as I hear the Lord: you shall have what people ahead of you did not get. You shall be favoured ahead of those with superior pedigree; you shall receive results that are higher than the results of those who began before you; you shall have portions that are reserved for kings and nobles.

Ruth was a Moabitess, she would ordinarily not have been accepted into Israel; but she eventually got married to Boaz, into the same lineage that Jesus came from. She moved from being a rejected woman to having a bigger space in destiny. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your results will be amazing; your space shall be enlarged; your good news will give rise to bigger good news; your favour will birth more and more favours.

Ask God to favour you in the order that He favoured Ruth; ask God for the favour that will give you what was not given to others.
