Don’t Walk Away

Lift Up Your Eyes

13th October 2021

Scripture Reading: Joshua 5: 13-15, 6: 1-6

Focus

“13. And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand… 14. And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come…” (Joshua 5: 13-14)

In our Focal Scripture, Joshua lifted up his eyes and he saw the angel of the Lord with the drawn sword. Joshua was by Jericho. He would have seen the walls of Jericho. He would have been bothered about what to do about the walls of Jericho; but in one moment of redirection, he lifted up his eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord. He lifted up his eyes and he saw his solution instead of his problem. He saw the captain he needed.

Friend, you have seen the walls of Jericho enough; it is now time for you to see the captain of the Lord’s host. It’s time for you to see the hand of God that has been stretched out on your behalf. It is now time to see the solutions that God has positioned around you. It is time to see the helpers that God has sent to you. It is time to see the men that God has positioned to fight for you. It’s high time you saw the captain before the problem.

Joshua would have been burdened with thoughts of the walls of Jericho. He would have been trying to figure out what to do about the walls of Jericho; but the moment he lifted up his eyes and looked up, he saw the very one that heaven positioned to give him the solution he needed. He lifted up his eyes and he had angelic help that was more than enough to deal with the walls. If you dare to look up, your wall of Jericho will pale into insignificance compared to the divine help available.

Lift up your eyes and you would see that God has already begun to help you. Lift up your eyes and you would see that your crooked places are already being made straight. Lift up your eyes and you would see that your doors are already open. Lift up your eyes and you would see that the things that were once difficult have become easy. Lift up your eyes and you would see that the angel of the Lord has drawn a sword on your behalf.

Stop looking at your walls of Jericho; lift up your eyes; look unto God and you would have solutions faster than you ever imagined.
