Negative Voices

6th July 2021

Scripture Reading: Mark 10: 46-52

Focus

“And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” (Mark 10: 48)

As Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus, there were many who charged him that he should old his peace. There were voices that didn’t want Bartimaeus to cry out and receive a solution. There were voices that wanted him to remain in his situation. There were negative voices that were speaking against his emergence from blindness. There were negative voices that were against the new thing that he desired to come his way.

Bartimaeus did not sit back and keep silent when the negative voices spoke. He cried out more. He raised his protest to a new level. He demanded for Jesus’ intervention with more tenacity. Despite the negative voices, he maintained his stand and his demand. Bartimaeus did not allow the negative voices of defeat to have the final say. As they told him to keep silent and perhaps remain in his condition, he screamed to Jesus.

Friend, never allow the negative voices of defeat around you to have the final say. Do not allow the voices that want to silence your destiny to have the final say. Do not allow the voices that want to reduce you to lower levels to have the final say. Do not allow the enemy to have a final say in any matter of your life. Don’t allow the voices of negativity in your environment to have the final say over your life.

Bartimaeus kept calling on Jesus to have mercy on him; he maintained his confession despite all the negative voices that were speaking around him. No matter what is happening around you, and no matter how negative the voices around you are speaking, maintain your confession. Keep speaking what God would have you speak; keep saying what God’s word says about you; keep saying what you want to see, despite what you see now.

Remember, Bartimaeus maintained his confession, and his words prevailed over the words of the people who wanted to shut him up. Hear me as I hear the Lord: as you maintain your confession, you will prevail over the negative voices around you.
