Scripture Reading: Matthew 7: 24-27

Focus

“And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7: 27)

In our Focal Scripture, the house that was built on sand encountered the rain, and the floods, and the wind; and when they beat upon the house, it fell and great was the fall of it. Somebody’s investment encountered a few elements of nature, and what should have been a celebrated achievement became a great announcement of shame. Elements of nature showed up, and what should have brought joy ended upbringing to shame.

Friend, I pray for you: may your efforts to bring joy not turn to shame. May your efforts that should yield results not yield destruction; may the seasons of celebration and congratulations in your life not turn to public shame and disgrace; may you not make efforts that should reward you and the same efforts become messengers of your downfall; may your efforts not feed and enable your fall from heights already attained.

The man who built on sand moved from being a house owner to being houseless. He moved from having something to having nothing. Again, I pray for you: may your life not be an example of retrogression. May you do not move from something to anything; may you not move from having to not having; may you not move from relevance to obscurity; may you not move from being important to being unimportant.

If Christ has redeemed you, then the trajectory of your life should speak of advancement and not back and forth movements; if Jesus has redeemed you, you belong to the company of those whose path should shine brighter and brighter; if Christ has redeemed you, your life will not go back and forth; if Christ has redeemed you, your congratulations will not be exchanged with shame.

Henceforth, your life will move forward only and not backward; your life shall advance and not retrogress; your life shall not breed disgrace or shame.

Declaration
