Out Of The Sepulcher

19th April 2020

Scripture Reading: Mark 16: 1-20

Focus

“And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.” (Mark 16: 5)

In our Focal Scripture, the three women who went to anoint Jesus’ body walked into the sepulcher in search of His dead body. They forgot the word of the Lord, and they kept following a corpse until they got into the grave. They forgot the word of the Lord, and their movements were directed towards the place of death. Their mindset was about death and the grave, and they soon entered into the environment of the dead.

Friend, when you chase dead things, you will soon find yourself in the environment of the dead. If you keep chasing things that have no life in them, you will end up in the midst of the mundane and the lifeless. If you keep chasing after distractions instead of paying attention to the things that truly matter in your life, you will end up with needless journeys and meaningless results. If you lose sight of God, emptiness will be magnified.

Those women got into the grave, and when they saw an angel who was in the grave, they were afraid. They moved in the wrong direction, having forgotten the word of the Lord, and they ended up in the atmosphere of fear. If you keep away from the word of the Lord, you just might be embracing fears that will keep your destiny mortified. If you keep moving without the word, you will easily slip into negative emotions.

Those women eventually heard that Jesus was risen and had left the grave, and they fled from the grave. They changed focus from a dead Jesus to a resurrected Jesus, and they immediately changed their environment. If you want to change your environment, change your focus. Stop looking at the dead; look at the word of the Lord. When focus changes, direction changes. When focus is properly directed, positive movements are not a struggle.

Today, I decree, you are coming out of every dead environment you have slipped into; your time in the sepulcher is over.

Declaration

I am out of the sepulchre; I focus on the living, not on the dead, in Jesus’ name!
