Place A Demand

4th July 2021

Scripture Reading: Mark 10: 46-52

Focus

“And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” (Mark 10: 47)

In our Focal Scripture, Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus to have mercy on him. He was blind, and he cried out to the One who could turn his condition around. In Luke 4 vs. 18, among other things, Jesus announced that His agenda included recovery of sight for the blind. So the challenge of Bartimaeus was part of Jesus’ job specification, and he cried out and asked Jesus to help him. He held Jesus for what He promised.

Friend, hold on to Jesus for what He said. Hold on to Him for the healing He promised. Hold on to God for the doors He promised to open for you. Hold on to God for the miracles that sound like lies. Hold on to God for the promises that are documented in His word. Hold on to God for what He said He would do. Hold on to God and place demands for Him to perform the works He already promised to deliver on.

Bartimaeus demanded for what Jesus already promised to do, and he received it instantly, no stories. Jesus did not need to give excuses to Bartimaeus. Stop making excuses for God; He is not stranded like mere mortals; He is not helpless or limited like mere mortals; He is not financially challenged like mere men; God has all it takes to deliver on His promises; God has probably already done for someone, what you need Him to do.

There was a multitude that placed no demand on Jesus, and nothing was heard about them in the scriptures beyond being a multitude. Bartimaeus made a demand, and his matter was documented in scriptures for future generations to read. Make demands from God on the basis of what He has said, and He will grant you a miracle that will cause future generations to remember you.

What is that thing that is missing in your life? Has God made a promise about it? Hold on to Him, and make a demand, and you will receive the results of your demand.

Declaration

I place a demand on the person of God; whatever is missing in my life, I receive it now, in Jesus’ name!
