Stop Weeping

11th May 2021

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 30: 1-20

Focus

“Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.” (1 Samuel 30: 4)

When David and his men returned to see that the city of Ziklag had been burned, and that their wives and children had been taken into captivity, they lifted up their voices and wept until there was no more strength in them to weep. They used all their energy to weep for a situation that had gone against their interest. Those same men eventually pursued and caught up with the enemy; but they started by using their strength to weep.

Friend, no matter how much you feel like weeping over a situation that is not working as you wish, do not use your entire strength to weep. Do not invest your entire being in a pity party. Do not use everything you have in you to mourn over a situation that can still be rescued by God. Do not invest your entire emotions to weep over a circumstance that you have a capacity to turn around. Don’t invest in negative emotional displays.

The same men who spent their entire energy weeping eventually pursued and overtook the enemies. They eventually switched from weeping to strategic action, and they turned back the hands of the enemy. Instead of investing your entire being in weeping over your situation, switch to strategic actions that will birth uncommon results for you. Take a break from your weeping and start taking actions for progress.

Did you notice that whilst pursuing the Amalekites, two hundred men were too tired to continue the chase? They had invested so much in weeping and there was no strength left in them to make impact. If you invest your entire being in weeping, you just might be too tired to take the actions that will birth the change you seek. If you spend your entire time in analyzing what happened, it might be too late when you decide to act.

It is okay to weep, but don’t spend your all whilst weeping. Rise from the ashes, and take fresh actions that will yield the results you desire.

Declaration

I will not spend my entire being to weep about situations that will change, in Jesus’ name!
