Take Their Place

3rd October 2021

Scripture Reading: Joshua 5: 13-15, 6: 1-6

Focus

“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?” (Joshua 5: 13)

In Exodus 3, God had called Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. The whole idea was for Moses to lead the children of Israel into the entire Promised Land, including Jericho. Notice that Moses erred in the sight of God, and God passed on his assignment to Joshua. What Moses lost by mistake, became the portion of Joshua. As Moses was removed, Joshua took his place.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: what men lose by mistake, shall become your portion. What others are edged out of, you will be ushered into it. You will possess the portions that other men lost. You will occupy positions that other men were pushed out from. You will take the place of them that failed God. You will rise to the thrones that were vacated by the Ahabs of this world. You will possess the opportunities of rejected men.

Joshua did not engineer the mistake of Moses, but he became the beneficiary when Moses’ position became vacant. You may not have anything to do with the removal of men from the place of favour, influence, relevance, power, etc.; but as they step aside, you will rise to the top. As men make mistakes and lose their places in destiny, you will take over the rooms and spaces they vacated. You will possess what men lost by mistakes.

On the flipside, it’s time to close the chapters of your own mistakes; otherwise, you will be the one to lose your place to others who are waiting for your downfall. Close the chapter of sin before it makes you lose your relevance to other men. Close the chapter of unseriousness, incompetence, inconsistency in words and deeds, etc.; otherwise, you will be the one on your way down while others take your place at the top.

Build capacity like Joshua, so that you can possess the portions lost by the Moses’ of this world. Don’t be counted amongst men that lost their places by mistake.

Declaration

I won’t lose my place; the chapter of mistakes is closed forever, in Jesus’ name!
