FOCUS SCRIPTURE“And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;”(1 Samuel 30:1)

In 1 Samuel 27 vs. 7, Achish the King of the Philistines gave Ziklag to David as he fled from Saul. Ziklag was meant to be a hiding place; it was a zone that kept David out of the prying eyes of Saul; it was a place where David could finally stop running around because of Saul. Ziklag was a place where David must have felt safe from his enemy; Ziklag was David’s comfort zone.

Notice that David was not anointed to live in Ziklag; he was anointed to reign and rule as king over Israel. He was ordained for kingship, but alas, he dwelt in a comfort zone that would never cause kingship to become a reality. David was in a comfort zone that kept his potentials under cover; he was in a comfort zone that kept him away from the greatness God ordained for him.

Friend, in this New Year, step out of your comfort zone. Step out of the place of laxity in your destiny matters; stop giving your potentials a back seat in your daily affairs; stop spending time in activities that keep you away from your destiny assignment; stop focusing on any comfort that disconnects you from the greatness God ordained for you; don’t tag along in relationships that disconnect you from fulfilling your potentials; disconnect from whatever disconnects you from divine purpose.

David could have joined Israel in battling against their enemies, but while in his comfort zone, he only lived for himself but didn’t live for his destiny assignment. This year, choose to do things differently: stop living for yourself alone and start living for your destiny assignment. Get busy with whatever God has put in your hands to deliver on; focus on your destiny assignment.
When the chips are down, comfort is nothing; destiny fulfillment is everything. Choose the path of destiny fulfillment; say no to your comfort zone.

I stay focused, no more comfort zone, in Jesus’ name!
