YOU SHALL NOT WANT

11th June 2023

Scripture Reading: PSALMS 23: 1-6

Focus

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23: 1)

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist proclaimed that the Lord is his shepherd, and that he shall not want. The psalmist declared that because the Lord is his shepherd, his situation would be that of one who shall not want. Notice that the psalmist did not speak of how he will not want for a week or for a month. He simply declared that he shall not want, meaning that no matter the time, his reality will be “I shall not want”. Because of the Lord, the psalmist had future security.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: because the Lord is your Shepherd, you shall not want. No matter the negative predictions around you, you shall not want. No matter the conspiracies of enemies, you shall not want. No matter how bad the economy becomes, you shall not want. No matter the roadblocks that stand in your way, you shall not want. No matter who bears rule in the corridors of power, you shall not want. No matter how things change around you, you shall not want.

Systems and structures may change but you shall not want. Policies may be altered but you shall not want. No matter how many rivals that arise around you, you shall not want. As the first half of 2023 makes way for the second half, you shall not want. As days become weeks and weeks become months and months become years, you shall not want. Your family shall not want; your children shall not want; your business, career, vocation, etc. shall not want. You shall not want.

Notice that the psalmist did not speak of how he shall not want because of the efforts he had made; he spoke of how he shall not want because the Lord is his shepherd. The fact that you shall not want is not all about your personal efforts. It is all about the grace of God that exempts a man from being in want. The fact that you shall not want is not because you are the smartest kid on the block; it is all about the God who sees and knows.

Welcome to your new season where you shall not want. As surely as the Lord lives, you shall not want.

Declaration
