GOD HAS OPTIONS

21st July 2023

Scripture Reading: 1 SAMUEL 16: 1-14

Focus

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” (1 Samuel 16: 1)

When Saul failed God and went against God’s command to kill the king of Amalek, God decided that his time on the throne was up, and God sent Samuel to go to Bethlehem and anoint David. David would later go on to become the greatest king known in Israel. He literally became a dynasty through which Jesus emerged. So whilst Saul was busy making a mess of his kingship, God had options and unveiled same when He got fed up.

Friend, glean some wisdom: concerning that role that heaven has blessed you and given you grace to fulfill, heaven has more options. God has people who can replace you at short notice. God has people who can take your place at the top if you keep making a mess of it. God has people who will accept your assignment willingly and give it their best the moment they get a chance. God has people who are willing to do better than you are doing.

Saul was the tallest man in Israel, he seemed like the most qualified to be king; but the moment he was rejected by heaven, a young boy who was not even a part of Israel’s army was anointed to be king. His replacement came from the bush and was anointed as king. You may not know it, but there are replacements for you; they may be in the bush, but they have what it takes to sit on the throne and wear the crown at short notice.

Stop making a mess of the opportunities that heaven has given you. Stop making a mess of the chance you have to play vital roles in your workplace, family, ministry, society, etc. Stop making a mess of the privilege of relevance that God has bestowed on you. Stop imagining that no one can take your place. Stop living like one who should be replaced. Stop making your position vacant by your conduct and performance.

When the chips are down, remember, heaven has replacements for you; even the world you live and operate in has replacements for you.

Declaration

I won’t be replaced; I won’t make a mess of my privileged opportunity for relevance, in Jesus’ name!
