KEEP SEALED LIPS

26th Sep 2023

Scripture Reading: JOSHUA 2: 1-24, 6: 22-24

Focus

“And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.” (Joshua 2: 14)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when the spies from Israel told Rahab that their deal with her must never be mentioned to anyone. Rahab was given a lifeline, she was given a chance to escape what was about to come against the people in Jericho, but she needed to keep it secret. A destiny deciding matter was brought to the table, and she was not going to discuss it with random people. Her lifeline needed to be kept a secret.

Friend, you may not yet be ready for greatness until you learn to keep secrets. Some things are simply not to be discussed. Some matters are simply not meant to be made public. Some agreements are simply not meant to be advertised. Some success secrets are simply not meant to be shared with anyone. Some issues that have not yet matured or brought results, are simply not meant to be discussed freely or openly.

There was a king and probably an army of informants who were waiting to discover the information available to Rahab, so they could thwart it. Unknown to you, there are many who might just be waiting to discover the secrets you have that they can use against you. The secrets you fail to conceal rightly might just be the information that haters and opposers will eventually use against you. The secrets you can’t keep may keep you away from greatness and success when it matters most.

Notice that Rahab was meant to keep this matter a secret, but she also needed to get her family members on board the plan. So some people were meant to know, and many others were never meant to hear about it. Always discern between those who should be let into your secrets and those who must never know. Needless to say, some will help you when they know your secrets, while some will us the secret they know, against you.

Don’t be counted amongst those who can never be trusted with secrets. Don’t make the mistake of sharing what ought to be kept under lock and key. Don’t be counted amongst talebearers who can’t keep mute.

Declaration
