Another Man’s Labour

9th March 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6: 24-25, 7: 1-20

Focus

“Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” (2 Kings 7: 1)

Our Focal Scripture tells the tale of the prophecy that was to transit Samaria from the place of lack to the place of abundance. That abundance was not going to be a result of hardwork on the part of the people of Samaria. It was abundance that would arise from the spoils of war that the Syrians abandoned in their camp. It was abundance arising from the labours of other people. So they enjoyed the abundance that others created.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: in this year 2020, you will enjoy the abundance that others labored for. You will enjoy privileges that others worked hard to earn; you will step into open doors that others worked hard to open; you will step into opportunities that others worked hard to create or attract; you will enjoy the benefits of another man’s labour; you shall enjoy the reward and abundance that others engineered.

The Syrians came with so much in their quest to fight against Israel, but in the end, they hurriedly escaped, abandoning all that they came with. They may not have planned that Samaria would eat from their labour, but it turned out so. Some men may not have planned that you will enjoy the abundance they created, they may not have planned the resources they worked for to come to you; but as surely as God lives, it is coming to you.

You serve a God who does not let you labour for every harvest you will ever enjoy; you serve a God who reserves the right to cause another man’s harvest to become yours; you serve a God who causes men to abandon what they labored for, so that you can have it; you serve a God who causes even enemies to abandon their own increase so that you can have it.

Step into the increase that other men engineered; step in to take your portion of that abundance you didn’t labour for.

Declaration
