Be A Finisher

Be A Finisher

14th December 2019

Scripture Reading: Luke 14: 28-30

Focus

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” (Luke 14: 28)

The man in Jesus’ parable in our Focal Scripture intended to build a tower but first sat down to count the cost, to know if he had enough resources to finish it. So this man was not just intending to start a project; he intended to start what he would also finish; he intended to start what would not be stopped on the way; he intended to start what he would be able to complete. For him, there wasn’t going to be a start without a finish.

Friend, as 2019 gradually makes way for 2020, make a commitment to be a finisher. Commit yourself to the business of completing whatever you start. Make a commitment to complete whatever project you start; commit yourself to complete whatever assignments you have started; commit yourself to complete the books you have started to write; commit yourself to complete the knowledge acquisition you have started.

It’s not enough to start many plans without completing any; there is no wisdom in starting what you have no plans or commitment to finish; there is no wisdom in allowing procrastination to stop you from completing what you ordinarily should start and finish promptly; don’t allow time to rob you of the zeal and steam you need to complete whatever you have started; dare to be a finisher.

Greatness is not all about how many things you were able to start; it would matter more if you truly finished what you started; it would matter if you began and had the commitment to complete your mission; relevance will take a flight away from you if you continue to start what will be abandoned halfway; your impact and greatness in life will be greatly diminished if all you can do is to start and abandon what you started.

If you start but do not finish, who will finish it for you? If you start and stop halfway, how will you get the right results?

Declaration

As 2019 makes way for 2020, I mix intention with capacity, in Jesus’ name!
