Be Consistent

Scripture Reading: Judges 4: 1-10

Focus

“And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.” (Judges 4: 5)

Our Focal Scripture records that Deborah dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah. Ordinarily, no palm tree would have had a name on its own, but Deborah kept dwelling under this particular palm tree until the palm tree was named after her. She so consistently showed up at that palm tree until the tree got a name from her. Her consistency caused her identity to be established on that palm tree. Deborah wore consistency like a garment.

Friend, do your best to wear consistency like a garment. Be consistent in all you do. Be consistent in your strength of character; be consistent in your walk with God; be consistent in your service to God’s kingdom; be consistent in your fellowship with God; be consistent in your service delivery; be consistent in your positive values; be consistent in being the best if you have so chosen; let consistency be your watchword.

Anyone who wanted to approach Deborah for judgement did not need to guess where Deborah would be. Her consistency became so predictable that a palm tree where she held court was named after her. Would you commit today, to attain the realm of predictable consistency? Would you commit today, to attaining a level where people know what to expect from you without you disappointing them for whatever reason?

Before Deborah got involved in the battle that eventually consumed Jabin and his cohorts, she paid the price of consistency. Consistency paved the way for her victory in battle. Consistency paved the way for her to attain a higher level of relevance. If you dare to be consistent, you will be shocked at the level of relevance you will soon attain. If you dare to be consistent, God will have no option but to invite you to higher realms.

Don’t be counted amongst them that are hot today and cold tomorrow. Make a commitment to wear consistency like a garment.
