Scripture Reading: Luke 14: 28-30

Focus

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” (Luke 14: 28)

The man in our Focal Scripture was one who desired to build a tower and sat down first to consider the cost, and be sure that he could finish what he was about to begin. That man did not desire to daydream about building a tower; he didn’t desire to just lay the foundation of the tower; he desired to go beyond the foundation and do more than just a foundation; he was a man who set out to do more.

Friend, as 2019 makes way for 2020, dare to do more. Dare to go beyond starting; add more to the foundations you have laid; add more to your life; add more to your efforts; add more to your impact; add more to your passion for God; add more to your commitment and dedication to the kingdom of God that you represent; add more to the much you have been doing; do more; be more than you have been in time past.

That man was going to build a tower, not by doing it in one swoop, but by consistently putting more and adding more to whatever he had previously done. His greatness was simply a journey of adding more and doing more. Hear this: the greatness you seek is simply a journey of being more and doing more; the attainments you desire will come when you do more than what you did yesterday; to go higher is to do more.

Commit yourself to the lifestyle of always doing more; dare to do better than you previously did; add more to what you already accomplished; add more to your goals and aspirations; add more to your wisdom; add more to your knowledge; add more to your competence and skill profile; add more to the perfection you already attained; add more to your personality; add more to your service; add more, do more, and be more.

Remember, to do more is to build your tower. To do more and be more is to accomplish more. Go beyond doing what is basic; dare to do more and be more.
