Unexpected Thrones

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 17: 1-53

“And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.” (1 Samuel 17: 40)

When David put away the armour of Goliath, he chose five smooth stones from the brook. In a battle that would have ordinarily needed spears, swords, shields, etc, David went for five stones. David was in a battle field where every man should have physical battle weapons, but he went for stones from the brook. David chose the path of uniqueness; he chose what no man was willing to choose; he did things differently, and he beat Goliath.

Friend, in this season, dare to be unique. Dare to stand out. Dare to do things differently. Dare to be unique. Dare to dig into the depths your being and come up with a level of creativity that your generation cannot rival. Dare to open yourself to the portals of the spirit until you are filled with inspiration that will make you uniquely different from people around you. Like David, look beyond those with their swords and get your stones.

It may have made sense to get a sword first, like others in the battle field, but David didn’t bother. It may have made sense to look like others, but David didn’t bother. Don’t be caught up in needless commonality. Don’t place yourself under the pressure of trying to be like everyone around you. Don’t put yourself under the pressure of doing just what others are doing. Don’t make the mistake of losing your identity in other to identify with others who are simply not as unique as you.

David rather went for stones, and in the end, his stones got the job done. He chose to be unique, and in the end, he achieved what those that shared commonality could not achieve. Sometimes, your next achievement just needs the trigger of your uniqueness. Sometimes, your next level doors open when you unleash a new level of inspiration and creativity that others are unwilling to task themselves to achieve.

Remember, the multitude of soldiers who only had spears and swords watched David, the man who dared to go for stones, kill Goliath. The multitudes will bow to your inspiration and creativity.

I have the oil of distinction; I am unique, in Jesus’ name!
