Scripture Reading: Judges 16: 1-25

Focus

“Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.” (Judges 16: 1)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when Samson went to Gaza and fell in love with a harlot. The mandate on the life of Samson, was for him to deliver the children of Israel from the hands of the Philistines (see Judges 13 vs. 5). Samson went to the same people that kept the children of Israel in bondage, and he went into an alliance with one of them. He fell in love with what would destroy him. He was in love with the same people who desperately wanted his bondage and downfall.

Friend, as the second half of the year begins, break away from everything that is seeking to keep you in bondage. Break away from every addiction to the same things that want to bring you down. Break away from the relationships that keep you connected to your affliction. Break away from every zone that is seeking your downfall. Break away from everything that wants to break your consecration. Break away from every involvement that is reenacting the bondage you already left.

It is counter-productive to desire freedom, and yet be in love with the tokens of your bondage. It is counterproductive to desire advancement and yet have affinity for the very things that want to keep you at the same spot. If truly you want to rise and shine, then leave your past behind. Leave every bondage behind. Leave every pattern of error behind. Leave every appetite for sin behind. Break away from the siege of the enemy.

If Jesus has redeemed you, then you should have no more business with bondage and everything that brings it closer to you. If Christ has set you free, then choose not to entangle yourself again with any yoke of bondage. Make a commitment to stop loving what the Lord hates to see you in/with. Make a commitment to stop loving the traps that want your downfall. Make a commitment to break away from the tokens of bondage.

Don’t be counted amongst them that fell in love with the very traps that were meant for their downfall. Don’t be counted amongst them that fell in love with bondage instead of seeking for freedom.

Declaration
