Build Right

Scripture Reading: Matthew 7: 24-27

Focus

“24. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:” (Matthew 7: 24, 26)

It is important to observe that the challenge of the man who built on sand did not manifest while he built. He built his house, the house stood; but on a certain day, the rains fell, and the floods came, and that house was washed away. That man had a foundation that was never going to stand the test of time, and some events that would happen in the future made that clearer. Future events revealed the weakness of his faulty foundation.

Friend, if your foundation remains weak, just maybe some future events will announce that to everyone. If you remain with a weak prayer life, it is only a matter of time before events expose your prayerlessness; if your walk with God is currently comatose, time will soon reveal it, and people would see it; if your competence is not enough for the work you do, it’s only a matter of time before events reveal your inadequacy.

If your foundation is faulty, now is the time to repair it. Get back to the place of prayer; get back to your communion and walk with God; get back to the places where you are weak and ask God to make you strong; get back to the place of getting things right before events expose you to your generation; get back to the place of efficiency and competence in what you do; get back to the place of doing what is right instead of what is wrong.

One thing is certain: the wrong foundation may stand for a while, but it will not stand the test of time. The wrong foundation may appear to work for you now, but it will work against you sooner than later; the wrong attitudes may appear not to matter now, they may not stop your success for now, but a time is coming when those same wrong attitudes will push you out of your place in destiny if you don’t change your ways.

Commit to building right, and on the right foundation. Don’t be like that man who built on sand.
