In our Focal Scripture, David instructed that Solomon be made to ride on his own mule and proceed to Gihon where he would be anointed as king. David seemed to give a guideline that would precede the anointing of Solomon as king. There was a foundation that ought to be laid before anyone could be proclaimed as king, and David gave instructions for same to be done with Solomon. David set the foundation for Solomon to be enthroned.
Notice that Adonijah called a party to celebrate as king, but he never rode on the king’s mule, and was never even anointed as king. Adonijah crashed because he proclaimed himself king without riding on the king’s mule to be anointed. He crashed because he declared himself king without a foundation. He failed to follow the process of enthronement, and his party ended abruptly. His kingship was a mirage that ended before it even started.
Friend, you may not be preparing to last long on your throne if you ascend without having the right foundation. Your kingship may end before it ever starts, like in the case of Adonijah, if you fail to have the right foundation that supports the greatness you wish to attain. You may end up a flash in the pan if you force your way to the throne without a prophetic backing. You may set up your own downfall if you celebrate without the oil.
As you seek to reign as king, start by seeking to have the right foundation. Get it right with the processes that heaven would have you go through. Get it right with your preparation. Get it right in the place of prayer. Get it right with your prophetic cover. Get it right with your obedience to God. Get it right with the word of the Lord concerning that throne and crown you seek. Ask the Lord to build you aright before your throne comes.
Remember, Solomon’s kingship wasn’t celebrated until the right foundation was set for it. Don’t be counted amongst them that simply got close to kingship but never emerged because the right foundation was missing.
