Chosen By Grace

Scripture Reading: Mark 11: 1-11

“And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.” (Mark 11: 2)

In Bible times, people rode on mature donkeys or horses, but baby donkeys (colts) were usually left out of it. Baby donkeys were considered too weak to carry adults. Colts were not expected to carry a lot of weight. Jesus wanted to ride into Jerusalem, and He chose to ride on a colt. Jesus chose what was outrightly weak as His transport means. A weak colt got the opportunity that should have been reserved for an older colt.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you may be considered weak amongst your contemporaries and colleagues, but mercy will speak for you and take you higher. Where your strength is not enough, mercy and grace will qualify you. Where protocols have been set up to exclude you, the grace of God will include you. Where you are not able to compete with your contemporaries, grace will be your competitive advantage.

Mature donkeys were available, but Jesus bypassed them and went for a colt that was still tied and considered immature. There may be ‘mature donkeys’ all around you, but the same word of the Lord that located the colt in our Focal Scripture will locate you and place you on the mountain of relevance and influence. The mercy that made the colt relevant will make you relevant. The grace that lifted the colt will lift you higher.

The older donkeys were bypassed for a mere colt. Those that came before the colt were bypassed and the colt was chosen. Hear me as I hear the Lord: you will be chosen ahead of those who came before you. Receive favour to be ahead; they might be better than you, but you will be chosen ahead of them; they might be more buoyant or more connected than you, but mercy will take you ahead of them.

Don’t disqualify yourself because you are not as strong as people around you. Don’t exclude yourself from relevance because rules have been made to exclude you. You may not be as strong as others around you, but the strength of God shall be made perfect in your weakness.

I will be chosen by grace; my weakness is Jesus’ attraction, in Jesus’ name!
