Crowned On Purpose

Crowned On Purpose

2nd January 2020

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 10: 1-7

Focus

“Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?” (1 Samuel 10: 1)

When Saul was anointed as king of Israel, Prophet Samuel announced to him that he had been anointed to be captain over the people of Israel. The word captain is a military word; a captain is meant to lead his subordinates in wars. So Saul was anointed to lead the children of Israel in war. He was anointed to fulfill a purpose. The crown that was to be put on him, and the throne he was to sit on, were all tied to a purpose.

Friend, as God brings you to your thrones and crowns, take note that there is a purpose behind it. There is a purpose for every elevation that will come your way this year. There is a purpose for the doors that will be opened to you; there is a divine purpose for the resources that God will put in your hands this year; there is a purpose for the greatness that will be bestowed on you; there is a purpose for the royalty you are called into.

God announced His purpose for Saul’s kingship the moment the oil was put on his head. God would not announce His purpose if He didn’t want Saul to keep his eyes on the purpose. God wants you to be mindful of purpose in this year of thrones and crowns. God wants you to know why He chose you instead of your rivals and contemporaries; God wants you to be mindful of the purpose He wants your throne and crown to achieve.

Discover God’s purpose for you and walk with it this year. No matter what comes your way, ask God to show you His purpose for it. Ask God to show you His purpose for the miracles, open doors, breakthroughs, favours, gifts, elevation, greatness, etc that comes your way this year. Ask God to keep you aligned with purpose. Ask God to give you the wisdom to walk through a year of thrones and crowns.

It’s not enough to receive your throne and your crown. Do well to be aligned to God’s purpose in 2020.
