Defend Your Territory

15th January 2020

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 10: 1-7

Focus

“Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?” (1 Samuel 10: 1)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when Saul was anointed to be captain over the Lord’s inheritance. A captain is a military word; another responsibility of a captain is to defend. So Saul was anointed to defend the people of God. It was not enough to gain the new territories that God was to grant His people; Saul also needed to defend, so that what was gained would not be lost to new attackers.

Friend, in 2020, defend the territories that God has given you. Defend your family in prayers; defend your portion with prayers; defend your children with prayers; defend your opportunities with prayers; defend your destiny helpers with prayers; defend your open doors with prayers; defend your greatness with prayers; defend your achievements with prayers; defend everything the Lord has put in your hands with prayers.

Jesus spoke a parable of a man who sowed good seeds in his land, but ended up with tares which were sown by his enemy in the hour when men slept (see Matthew 13: 25). There is wisdom is realizing that there are spoilers waiting to spoil what the Lord has given you; there are haters waiting to poison the hearts of good men against you; there are ‘men’ waiting for you to sleep, so that they can sow tares among your wheat.

Today, I pray for you: may the Lord grant you discernment to know when to defend and to attack. May the Lord open your eyes to see the territories that you need to defend. May the Lord cause you to have the wisdom to know when your territory is about to be invaded. May the Lord give you wisdom to know when the doors He has opened for you are about to be closed by those who wish you nothing but evil.

In 2020, there is and should be no room for losses; in 2020, there is wisdom in defending that which is yours.

Declaration

In 2020, I defend my territory, in Jesus’ name!
