In our Focal Scripture, the water that was given to Hagar by Abraham was spent. Hagar ran out of the supplies she got from Abraham. It seemed that Abraham had done noble for Hagar, but it was not long before the best efforts of Abraham paled into insignificance. It was not long before the supply from a mere mortal finished in the hands of Hagar. It was not long before Hagar was in need after receiving the much she received from man.
Friend, if your supply in 2024 begins and ends with mere mortals, it won’t be long before you run out of whatever you received from man. Whatever a man can do for you will only last for a while. Whatever a man can give to you will only last for a while. Whatever a man can help you with will only last for a while. Whatever provisions and support you can get from a man will only last for a while. The supplies of men will not last.
Abraham had his good intentions, but his good intentions could only offer what would last for a while. He had his good intentions, but his good intentions expired sooner than later. If you keep your hopes in men, even their best intentions may expire earlier than you expect. If you keep your hope and expectations hinged on man, you may get the help, support, encouragement, resources, etc. you need, but it may finish sooner than later.
This year, keep your eyes on El Roi, the God who sees you. When El Roi supplies your need, you won’t be stranded as when you are focused on men. When El Roi comes to your aid, it is never as when a man comes to your rescue. When El Roi provides for you, your supplies will not run out. When El Roi gives to you, He gives you better than what any man could have given. The supplies of El Roi do not run out like the supplies of men.
Don’t be counted amongst them whose entire focus is on mere mortals. God will use men no doubt, but let your focus be on God and not on man. Don’t give the trust you should have given to God, to mere men.
