Do The Necessary

2nd November 2019

Scripture Reading: Matthew 14: 22-33

“And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.” (Matthew 14: 22)

When it was time to go over to the other side, Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship. To constrain is to compel or force; so Jesus forced and compelled His disciples to get into a ship. That ship was the vessel that would transport them to other side, and they were forced into it. The ship was necessary for their next movement, and though they may not have felt like it, they were forced into it. They did the necessary.

Friend, arise and do what is necessary. Arise and be the man/woman that God destined you to be. Arise and face your assignment. It’s time to gain more knowledge and skills for your advancement. It’s time to rise above your fatigue and face the challenges in front of you. It’s time to give your best to that movement you need to make. It’s time to cross those hurdles. It’s time to run the race ahead of you no matter how tired you feel.

Jesus had just fed the multitude, and He would have been forgiven if He chose to rest after that huge achievement, but that was when He forced the disciples into the ship. The last achievement was not a reason to delay the next movement. Your last achievement is no reason to slow down your movement in destiny. If you are done with the current achievement, move on to the next immediately. Keep moving, and don’t stop.

Don’t allow what is unnecessary to keep you away from doing what is important. Don’t mix frivolities with your priorities. Force yourself to do what you need to do; compel yourself to face your assignments; push yourself to make progress; even if you don’t feel like it, keep pushing until you become all you need to become; push yourself to gain results. If it is necessary, don’t delay, don’t postpone, don’t procrastinate; just do it.

In your journey through life, it is better to be told to slow down than to be told to wake up. Don’t sleep in the face of challenges you can conquer. Arise, and force yourself to move.

I shall force myself to move forward, in Jesus’ name!
