DON’T BE DISCOURAGED

Scripture Reading: ZECHARIAH 4: 1-9

Focus

“So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?” (Zechariah 4: 4)

The vision of Zechariah in our Focal Scripture was ultimately focused on the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Notice that in Ezra 4 vs. 4, the people who lived in the land tried to discourage the Jews to keep them from building the temple. God had spoken a word concerning the completion of the temple, but there were men who tried to talk the Jews out of their divine mandate. Some discouragers wanted to stop them.

Friend, in your journey of purpose, stay away from the people whose mission is to discourage you. Stay away from those whose agenda is to talk you out of what God has mandated and empowered you to accomplish. Stay away from those whose mission is to tell you how impossible your goal is. Walk away from those whose words make you lose steam. Walk away from those who are simply speaking for the enemy in your life.

God Himself had given the mandate for the building of the temple; God did not give a mandate to start without giving a mandate to finish it; God already knew how to empower people who literally just stepped out of captivity, for the journey of rebuilding the temple, and there was no need to be discouraged. Why would you allow anyone to discourage you from the mandate God gave you? Why would you prefer discouraging voices?

Did you know that the temple in Jerusalem was eventually completed? So what the discouraging voices deemed impossible was actually possible. Those who are discouraging you might have seen the glorious future ahead of you and want to use you to stop you. Your discouragers are false prophets who are positioned against the word of the Lord concerning you. In fact, your discouragers will be ashamed when you ignore them.

If God sent you on that mission to ‘rebuild the temple’, then brace up, forge ahead, keep pressing, keep pushing, and you will ultimately prevail.
