You Won’t Be Swallowed

DON’T WALK AWAY

29th April 2024

Scripture Reading: ACTS 3: 1-11

Focus

“And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” (Acts 3: 8)

It is instructive to observe that Peter and John came to the temple in the hour of prayer. So they came to pray. Notice that after the lame man at the Beautiful gate was healed, they still proceeded to enter the temple. Their choice to pray did not change because a miracle had happened. Their priorities didn’t change because of what God did through them. Their focus on God didn’t change because of what God did. They entered the temple.

Friend, no matter what God has done, stay in the temple. No matter the miracles you witness, stay in the place of your intimacy with God. Get closer to God as you witness the manifestation of His works in your life and around you. Let your posture be for more of God as you become a partaker of the wonders of God in your life. Let every fresh release of the power of God take you closer to Jesus. Let every kindness of God take you closer to God.

What God did through Peter and John was not enough to cause their priority for prayer to decline. Prayer was their focus before the miracle came, and prayer remained their focus after the miracle came. No matter what comes your way, let prayer remain your focus. Let intimacy with God remain your focus. Let the presence of God remain your priority. Let whatever God does for you not take your eyes away from Him.

It is an error to be distracted from God because of what He did for you. It is an error to stop following hard after God because of things He gave you that eyes can see. It is an error to take Jesus down the perking order because He has answered your prayers. It is an error to think you need God less because of what He did for you. No matter what God has done, there is a lot more He is yet to do, so why walk away when there is more?

Wise men follow hard after Jesus even if they have received their miracles. Wise men stay in the temple to worship even when God has answered.

Declaration

No matter what I receive from God, I will not walk away, in Jesus’ name!
