Don’t Walk Away

Scripture Reading: Ruth 1: 1-17

Focus

“Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.” (Ruth 1: 1)

Our Focal Scripture unveils the story of Ruth and the family of Elimelech into which she was married. There was a famine in Israel, and Elimelech took his wife and sons and went to Moab. Moab was one country which God had told His people never to associate with (see Deuteronomy 23: 3). Moab was the wrong destination for a child of God. So what God rejected was what Elimelech accepted. Adversity pushed Elimelech into error.

Friend, no matter the adversity you face, and no matter how difficult things ever become, don’t embrace what God has rejected. Don’t endorse what God has refused; don’t accept what God has rejected; don’t align with the enemy because of a situation that God Himself can change; don’t drift away from God on account of a situation that will change in a matter of time; don’t abandon your covenant with God because of challenges.

Elimelech left Israel for Moab, and in a matter of time, God visited His people in Israel. In a matter of time, the same challenge that drove him out of Israel received divine attention. No matter what the challenge is, just be patient and stay in the place of your covenant. Don’t allow impatience to make you walk away from the same place where God is going to show up and visit you; don’t allow challenges to make you miss your visitation.

No challenge is worth more than your walk with God; no adversity is big enough to trade off your place in God; no situation is worth sacrificing your covenant with God for; no reason is good enough to make you embrace what the Lord has already discarded. Don’t let the enemy make you feel that the Lord has abandoned you; don’t let the enemy make you believe that your best option is to walk away from God or embrace ungodliness.

To him that is joined to the living, there is hope. If God be for you, no adversity will last forever. If God be for you, the circumstances that are not in your favour will change in a matter of time.

Declaration
