The vision of Zechariah pertained to the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Notice that in Ezra 4, after King Cyrus of Persia had ordered the children of Israel to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple, enemies of Judah and Benjamin showed up to hinder the work of the temple. Enemies hired evil counsellors to dampen the spirits of those who were to build the temple. Enemies arose against the word of the Lord.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every enemy that has arisen to say that the word of the Lord concerning you will not come to pass, let the Lord silence them by fire. Let the hand of the Lord be stretched out against the evil men that say you will not rise. Let the hand of the Lord be stretched against the men who say that your prophecy will not be fulfilled. Let the hand of the Lord be stretched against the enemies of your new.
Notice that Cyrus the King of Persia had given an order for the temple to be built; he had even given the people freedom to move and fulfill the mandate of the Lord; there was backing for the building of the temple, both from heaven and from King Cyrus, but some enemies still arose against it. Hear me as I hear the Lord: every gathering of enemies that have positioned themselves against your prophecy, let the judgement of God swallow them. Let God arise and let your enemies be scattered.
Today, I decree, you will trample upon the heads of your enemies. You will trample upon the heads of those who have risen against you. You will trample on the heads of those who have chosen to hinder the word of the Lord concerning your life. You will trample upon the schemes and machinations of the enemies of your prophecy. You will trample upon the evil divinations and satanic enchantments of the enemy.
The wishes of your enemies will not stop your prophecy from being fulfilled. The word of the Lord concerning you will stand, and nothing will be put to it nor taken from it.
