Exceeding Expectations

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 30: 1-20

“And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” (1 Samuel 30: 8)

In our Focal Scripture, David enquired from the Lord if he may pursue and overtake the enemies that invaded his space in Ziklag. David asked two questions from the Lord, pertaining to the matter of pursuing and overtaking. God responded, and ordered David to pursue, overtake, and recover all. David did not speak of recovery but God granted him the favour of recovery. God answered more than David asked.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you are about to get more than you asked. You are about to receive more results than you expected from the Lord. You are about to walk into higher realms that were not part of your prayer points. You are about to gain results that were not intentionally desired by you. God is about to exceed your expectations and cause you to have more than you asked for. You are about to have more.

David may not have been sure if his possessions were still available for recovery, but the God who sees all things promised him recovery, and he recovered all. What he could not readily see, God saw and made it part of his package. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your eyes may not have been opened to see certain results that should come your way, but God sees, and He will cause you to have more. God will give you what you never imagined.

You serve a God who is able to do immeasurably more than you could ever ask or think, according to His power. You serve a God who sees more than you could ever see for yourself. You serve a God who sees the results you don’t see. You serve a God who sees the new realms you don’t see. You serve a God who sees the open doors you don’t see. You serve a God who sees the access and relevance you don’t see. Your God sees more.

Ask God to cause you to have more. Ask God to grant you more than you could ever ask or think.

I will receive more than I asked from the Lord, in Jesus’ name!

Memory Verse

“God can do anything, you know- far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” (Ephesians 3: 20 MSG)
