Face Your Assignment

18th October 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 9: 1-13

Focus

“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

It is instructive to note that when it was time for heaven to distinguish one of the sons of the prophets, he was sent with a box of oil to go and anoint Jehu as king. He was sent to go and fulfill an assignment that heaven created. His distinction was locked up in an assignment. Even the Jehu that was to be anointed was also given an assignment. So both the son of the prophets, and Jehu, had assignments that heaven ordained.

Friend, distinction begins in the life of a man when that man asks heaven what assignment he/she should fulfill. Sometimes, as you pray for distinction, the answer to your prayers comes in form of an assignment you must fulfill to make heaven glad. You must come to the point of asking God why He made you and what assignment He desires that you fulfill. You must come to the point of living for the assignment bestowed on you.

Most times, the assignment that heaven has for you will come to you outside of your comfort zone. Heaven will often demand that you abandon your safe zone and launch out into the deep in order to fulfill the assignment on your life. Heaven will often cause you to lose a bit of your comfort in order to please God. Sometimes, you would literally have to lose your sleep in order to do what heaven would have you do.

Have you asked God to show you the assignment in your promotion? What are the assignments you are yet to fulfill on your current level? What divine assignments are you currently neglecting? When a man understands and embraces his assignment, not everything is an option. When a man understands his assignment, the fascination of others may be treated as distractions. When a man understands the purpose, he lives differently.

Don’t be counted among the multitudes that have passed through this earth without fulfilling their assignments. Discover your assignment; face your assignment; fulfill your assignment.
