In our Focal Scripture, whilst getting set to overtake Ahab in the journey to Jezreel, Elijah girded up his loins. To gird up one’s loins in bible times meant to tuck in one’s flowing dress into a girdle tied around the waist; it was a step taken in order to increase speed. It was a preparation that Elijah had to make because he needed to move faster. So Elijah prepared himself, even when the hand of the Lord was upon him.
Friend, even when the hand of the Lord is upon you, play your own part by preparing for the greatness you desire. Prepare for the next level you are currently praying for; prepare for the open doors you are believing God for; prepare for the breakthroughs you desire to see before the year runs out; prepare yourself with new skills that will position you appropriately for the opportunities on the way; do your bit to prepare yourself.
If Elijah began to run and his long flowing dress got in the way of his movement and he fell, it wouldn’t be the fault of the hand of the Lord. If he failed to prepare, maybe even the hand of the Lord would have been subjected to needless roadblocks. If you fail to prepare and you finally fail, it wouldn’t be the fault of the hand of the Lord upon you; if you fail to play your part, you may even limit the expression of the hand of God upon you.
It’s time to start preparing for whatsoever you want to see or become; prepare for your next level; prepare for 2020; prepare your long term plans of action; prepare for that assignment that is still some days or weeks away; prepare for those results that will come your way when God answers your prayers; prepare for the movements and progress you need to make; prepare yourself for the blessings that are coming your way.
If you continue to live an unprepared life, you just might hinder the hand of God at work in your life. Get prepared; stay prepared.
