GREEN PASTURES

2nd March 2024

Scripture Reading: LUKE 7: 11-17

Focus

“And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.” (Luke 7: 11)

Our Focal Scripture makes mention of Jesus’ journey into Nain. It was in the course of this journey that He met a young man whose dead body was being taken for burial. That young man died in the city of Nain. The word ‘Nain’ amongst other thing, means ‘green pastures’. So that young man was initially in his ‘green pasture’, but he ended up dying within his ‘green pasture’. He arrived at his ‘green pasture’, but he died therein.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you will not die in your green pastures. You will not die in the same place where God has granted you progress and increase. You will not be swallowed by your success. You will not be swallowed by your greatness. You will not be swallowed by the results that God has brought your way. You will not be consumed by the flourishing of your land. You will not arrive at your green pasture and die therein.

Hear me as I hear the Lord: the land of your flourishing will not become the land of your reduction. The land of your distinction will not become the land of your extinction. The place of your success won’t become the place of your failure. The place of your rising won’t become the place of your downfall. The place of your increase won’t become the place of reduction. Your place of advancement won’t become a place of confinement.

You will not go down in the same place where others went higher. You will not be consumed by the good things that God has brought your way. Your green pastures will not turn against you. You will not be a victim of what the Lord has done for you. The blessings of the Lord that make rich will not bring you sorrow. You will not be a servant in the land that God has given you. You will not be a meal to be eaten by your green pasture.

You will not be counted amongst those who were swallowed by their green pastures. You will not go down in the midst of your good news.
