Grow In Power

24th May 2019

Scripture Reading: Mark 5: 21-34

Focus

“And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,” (Mark 5: 22)

Jairus was one of the rulers of the synagogue. He was a teacher of the law. He had a position in the synagogue, but things were out of alignment in his home. He had a position but things were out of position. He had a position in the eyes of men but the force of death was about to take away his daughter. Jairus was decked with physical authority in the synagogue, but lacked the spiritual authority to halt the invasion of his home.

Friend, it may be attractive to be seen holding physical authority, it may be prestigious to be counted among those in the leadership of the house of God, but it is important that you rise above mere positions and begin to wield spiritual authority. Be a person of power; grow your spirit man to a point where the power of God will flow through you naturally; grow to a point where situations will bow to the power of God at work in you.

There is more to serving God than just holding on to positions; the position of Jairus didn’t save him in the day of adversity. If all you have is position without power, you will be embarrassed by life’s circumstances. If all you have is the accolades of men without the divine deposits of power in you, you will come face to face with situations that require the power of God, and your emptiness will stare you in the face.

In all your getting, get more and more of the power of God. Grow your spiritual fire through more and more prayers; grow the intensity of your passion and power by dwelling more and more in the place of prayer; soak yourself more and more in God’s word; let the confession of the word of God never cease in your lips; let the fire of God keep burning within you; let your spiritual stamina matter more to you than your position.

Being in positions without being able to keep things in position is a contradiction that your destiny does not need in this season. Grow in grace and in the power of God.
